Leo Smith

Principal, Investments

Mr. Smith serves as a Principal for Berkeley Partners and is responsible for originating, structuring and overall management of Berkeley’s credit strategies and structured finance investments within debt, mezzanine, and preferred equity.

Most recently, Mr. Smith worked at Veritex Bank where he was Vice President of Commercial Real Estate where he originated a total of $1.7B in debt across all asset classes primarily including industrial, multifamily, office, retail, and note finance. Prior to that Mr. Smith was a relationship manager at Commerce Bank within the Commercial Real Estate Group.

Mr. Smith started his career with General Electric’s European Oil & Gas Division where he served in a corporate financial planning and analysis role. He holds a BS in Finance and Economics from Baker University and is fluent in Italian. Mr. Smith lives in Dallas, TX with his wife and two sons and enjoys cycling, golf, and mountaineering.
